Summer Library Resources
Enjoy the summer with UC Irvine Libraries! Resources continue to be available for UC Irvine affiliates (students, staff, and faculty) on and off campus.
Workshops
Consider taking time this summer for a workshop by the UC Irvine Libraries Data, Publishing, and Digital Scholarship department. Asynchronous and online, these workshops can be done at your own speed. Python programming and Version Control with Git workshops begin in July 2025. Self-paced workshops on social science data management and analysis, geospatial data analysis and visualization, and OpenRefine workshops are also available year-round.
Visit the Data, Publishing, and Digital Scholarship webpage for enrollment details and additional information.
Ebooks, Video Streaming, and News
Looking to unwind with a good summer read? Check out the Libraries' ebooks on Overdrive.
The video streaming service Kanopy also has two film summer collections: Summer Reading From Book to Screen and Best of Summer. Kanopy and additional film streaming services remain free for UC Irvine affiliates. Learn how you can stream media for free and what’s provided on the Streaming Media Research Guide.
UC Irvine affiliates can also keep up with current events through UC Irvine Libraries free news access. Free access includes The New York Times, The Orange County Register, The Washington Post, Financial Times, and The Wall Street Journal websites; The Chronicle of Higher Education; and more.
Research Help
If you’re working on research this summer, research help will continue to be offered. You can meet with a subject librarian, take advantage of the Libraries' online chat service, talk to Check Out Desk staff, or contact the Libraries at 949-824-0633. The Ask a Librarian webpage highlights additional services.
The Libraries buildings remain open with modified hours. Please visit the UC Irvine Libraries hours webpage for more information.
