UC Irvine Libraries’ Digital Sandbox, an online platform you can use to explore specialized software for digital projects, has a new look and feel. A new research guide and tutorial videos have also been added to get users started with some of the featured applications available on the platform.

The Sandbox might be for you if you want to explore different open-source tools or open educational resources (OERs) or prototype a digital project.

About Digital Sandbox

The Digital Sandbox provides access to dozens of fully functional, downloadable applications, including

  • Wordpress
  • Omeka Classic
  • Omeka S
  • Mukurtu
  • Pressbooks
  • Drupal CMS

The Digital Sandbox is ideal for UC Irvine researchers who want to

  • Build and test tools for a short- to medium-term digital project
  • Evaluate whether certain software is right for their needs
  • Scope out a project that can later be moved on to a permanent hosting solution
  • Collaborate with peers or students

All faculty, staff, and students with a UCInetID can get access to the platform by clicking “Request an Account” on the Digital Sandbox website.
