While UC Irvine Libraries carry and subscribe to a vast collection of books and scholarly resources, a large selection of electronic equipment is also available to check out at no additional cost.

The Libraries' equipment lending program enables students, faculty, and staff to borrow technology and accessories that support academic work, creative work, and campus events. Among the items users may borrow are PC laptops, MacBooks, and iPads (loaned for up to 48 hours); scientific calculators (loaned for up to three months); cameras and camcorders; and gaming consoles like PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. Other items include virtual reality headsets, chargers, tripods, bike locks, headphones, and wellness devices such as white noise machines and light therapy lamps.

ASUCI Donations

Many of these devices have been made possible by donations from the Associated Students of the University of California, Irvine (ASUCI) over the years. The ASUCI donations and other equipment purchased by the Libraries have helped ensure that students have access to what they need, when they need it, to be successful.

Equipment Loans

Most equipment can be checked out with a UC Irvine ID for up to 48 hours by visiting the front desk in the Langson and Science Libraries. Some items, such as chargers and headphones, are available for shorter three-hour loans. Late returns incur a fee of $2 per hour.

Laptops, cameras, and some other types of equipment are not eligible for extensions, renewals, or recheckouts. Users must also wait until the following day to check out another item in the same category.

For a complete list of the lendable equipment, visit the UC Irvine Libraries' Equipment Lending webpage, or contact circadm@uci.edu with questions.
