Affordable Course Materials and Open Educational Resources Grant Now Accepting Applications
Are you a visionary who imagines that course materials can not only be effective and high in quality, but can also be affordable (or even zero cost!) for your students?
If that sounds like you, the ACMI (Affordable Course Materials Initiative) grant could be yours! Begin the process by submitting your interest and course information to OER@uci.edu. If accepted, you will receive $1,500 plus specialized library support to accomplish your goal.
Making your course materials more affordable or open has a huge impact on students. Here is some student feedback from a class that benefited from the grant:
“Love not having to choose between a textbook and 2 weeks worth of groceries :)”
“I think this idea is great. Personally for me and my financial situation I can't afford to buy a $100 textbook for all my classes. I really have dropped courses because of it…Please keep doing this, and spreading it in other courses.”
“Thank you for providing free resources! It makes the classroom more equal and it encourages everybody to actually do the readings”
